I'm completing a program with BREM - Bridge to Registration & Employment in Mental Health, a program for immigrant mental health professionals who wish to be employed in their field and work towards becoming a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario.
From September 2024 to February 2025, I’ll be working under the supervision of Debora Kirschbaum Nitkin (PhD, RP, RN).
Debora is a Registered Psychotherapist with private practice in Toronto since 2013. Debora works with adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors from diverse gendered and racialized groups. Prior, she practiced in individual and group settings for over seventeen years in Brazil. In addition to her work as a Lacanian psychoanalyst and psychoanalytic psychotherapist, she is a clinical supervisor for the Advance Program of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy -Toronto Psychoanalytic Society, and for the 3rd Year Program of the Toronto Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis. She is also a Registered Nurse, and a retired faculty member of the Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto.
During this time, I’m able to offer supervised counselling and psychotherapy services at a low-cost rate in Ontario to young adults, adults and seniors, 2SLGBTQ+ folks, Latinx, newcomers, and poly and sex-positive individuals.
I work with a person-centered approach. I also use some techniques from Gestalt, existential, narrative, and psychodynamic therapies. I center my work with Anti-Oppressive, Harm Reduction, and Sex-Positive attitudes. Some of the issues I have expertise include anxiety, depression, immigration stress, 2SLGBTQIA+ issues, substance use, poly relationships, among others.
Debora and I also will be hosting some support groups during this time, stay tuned for more details 📳
