Supervision in Mental Health

While completing a Bridging Program to become a psychotherapist in Ontario, I’ll be working under the clinical supervision of a Registered Psychotherapist. A clinical supervisor is a professional with advanced qualifications and experience, who oversees the work of another mental health professional.

The role of a clinical supervisor involves providing mentorship, support, and feedback to help clinicians develop their skills, ensure they are delivering effective and ethical care, and maintain professional standards. Clinical supervision is critical for both the professional development of mental health professionals and the safety and well-being of clients.

Key responsibilities of a clinical supervisor include:
  1. Guidance and Feedback
  2. Ethical Oversight
  3. Skills Development
  4. Quality Control
  5. Emotional Support
  6. Evaluation
